Comparison Feature

The comparison feature regards matching. A match or mismatch is

determined based on a comparison of the programmed devices (the

devices stored in the adapter’s non-volatile memory) and the actual

devices present on the 1769 bus. The electronic keying options

(below) are applied on a position-by-position basis.

Each desired device and its location, modified by its electronic key

option (if settable), must match the corresponding actual device. If the

electronic key option for a device is set to Exact Match, then the

desired device’s type (vendor id, product type, and product code),

major revision, and minor revision must exactly match its

corresponding actual device to consider this entry a match.

If the electronic key option is set to Disable Keying, then the device

can be any type and revision and will be considered a match to its

corresponding actual device.

If the electronic key option for a device is set to Compatible Module,

then the desired device’s type must exactly match and its major/minor

revision must be equal to or less than the corresponding actual

device’s type. A major/minor revision of 2.3 is considered greater than

a major/minor revision of 1.9.

Remember, in order for the system keying configuration to be valid,

all of the desired devices (modified by their keying option) must

match.

IMPORTANT

Disable keying is not recommended because it will

allow an improper 1769 system configuration.
