PI API Installation Instructions

This manual contains the installation instructions for the PI

API and Bufserv.

If the interface is installed on a Windows node and if the

Historian Server is installed on a different node, then the

interface node is commonly referred to as a Historian

Interface node. The PI API must be installed on a Historian

Interface node to enable communication between the

interface and the Historian Server.

Bufserv is a utility program that stores and forwards events

to a Historian Server, allowing continuous data collection

when the server is down for maintenance, upgrades,

backups, and unexpected failures.
